Castle Cake

The Queen and King's Castle Cake
Yield: 1 9-inch cake (serves 10)

1-18.25 ounce yellow cake mix
Eggs
Water
Oil
8 crown metallic picks
4 short ice cream cones
4 pointed ice cream cones
1-8 ounce package sour cherry balls
1-6 ounce package black licorice bites
1-5 ounce box red licorice bites
Red and Green M&M's®
2 graham crackers
1 chocolate candy bar
4 pounds butter cream (readymade frosting)
Divided blue food coloring
1 wooden castle
1 large cake board
1-6.6 ounce package gold fish colors

Follow the directions on the cake mix. Divide the batter into two 9" square greased cake pans. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center of the cake comes out clean. Cool cake and frost them to form one cake. Make four turrets, one for each corner of the cake. Use one short ice cream cone for the bottom and one pointed ice cream cone for the top. Frost the two cones together to form each turret. Break off the picks on each crown and place a dab of frosting on the back of each crown. Place the crowns at the top point of each ice cream cone and also at the bottom center, both front and back. Alternate red licorice pieces with chocolate squares and the top layer of the frosted cake. Decorate the roof top of the cake with the M&M's® alternating the red and green M&M's®. Color 2 cups of frosting with blue food coloring to make the water around the moat. Place the wooden castle in the center front of the cake to represent the gate/bridge over the moat and use black licorice for the ropes on the side of the bridge. Place 3 sour cherry balls along the bottom of the cake on each side of the draw bridge. At random, stand up the gold fish crackers on the blue frosting around the castle.
